Herewith a piece, Eardley wrote on behalf of PHASA:
Safair opens bookings for passengers with hunting rifles, shotguns and ammunition on its domestic flights.
PHASA is pleased to announce that after more than two years of discussions and collaborations between Safair and various Eastern Cape wildlife industry stakeholders that there is an alternative to the service that South African Airways was providing to passengers arriving into the Eastern Cape’s East London and Port Elizabeth airports with their hunting rifles, shotguns and ammunition. Safair has multiple flights a day and this service won’t be limited to the Eastern Cape but other airports in the country too.
PHASA, Wildlife Ranching South Africa-EC (WRSA-EC), Confederation of Hunting Associations of South Africa (CHASA) , the Eastern Cape Development Corporation (ECDC) ,the East Cape Parks and Tourism Agency (ECPTA) and the Wildlife Industry Transformation forum (WIT) all played a part during the negotiating process with ACSA-PE and Safair through the NMB Airlift Committee’s Anthony Groom as Chair, for which PHASA’s members , other industry stakeholders and clients appreciate very much.
Bookings are now open via the FlySafair website and the service will be operational from February 1st 2021.
Airlink, who also carry firearms, still offers its one-flight-a-day service to the Eastern Cape’s two airports too.
