End of Season 2009 Newsletter

Since our previous newsletter, we can guarantee you, we've been busy. We wrapped up our 2009 hunting season, we printed a new brochure, developed a new website, printed a new booth for the conventions and we purchased a further 1500 acres adjacent to Blaauwkrantz. We believe this property will be a jewel for Nyala hunting and it compliments the rest of the 80 000 acres very well.

Our last newsletter was emailed when Greg Rodriquez from Global Adventure Outfitters was here with his family and group from Houston. They completed a very successful safari, including a Rhino Dart by John Wood, his son, Clanton, hunted an excellent Bushpig at night and daughter, Audra a Kudu. Greg’s son & daughter both hunted great Kudu and Cole hunted a very good Caracal.

Fellow hunter, Mike Ambrose, hunted magnificent trophies including a real long shot for a Vaal Rhebuck and a Klipspringer.

In August we also had Kyle, Marlena & Matthew McQueen from Temple Texas on a 14-day safari. Kyle had a great hunt, taking excellent trophies, and hunted 17 trophies! We thoroughly enjoyed having the McQueen’s with us.

Joseph Rogoff from California joined us for his second African safari in August. He was specializing in the Eastern Cape species, taking a very good Vaal Rhebuck, Bushpig with hounds, Oribi, Cape Grysbok, Common Reedbuck & Waterbuck. We are looking forward to having Joseph back with us soon.

Ralph & Patti Fatheree from Austin, Texas joined us for their 7th safari with us, always good having old friends back. Elise Ward from Colorado and Patti's daughter, Emily and son, Adam joined up with them from Uganda. Ralph hunted his 7th kudu!

Robert & Sarah Merkle from Arkansas, came on safari after a most memorable trip on the Blue Train from Johannesburg to Cape Town. Robert needed an Eastern Cape Kudu to complete his list of Kudu's.

Jack Pollock and son-in-law, Paul Manos joined us in August for their second safari at Blaauwkrantz. They spent a few days hunting at Asante Sana, our hunting area in the Karoo and had a most enjoyable time there before hunting back at Blaauwkrantz. Barry guided these gentlemen to an excellent hunt.

The Myrin Family, Alarik, Staci and daughter, Annika from Utah had a great family holiday. Annika saved up all her hard earned money helping her dad on the family ranch and paid for her own trophies. This was their first African safari and they enjoyed every minute.

End of August, ex-pat American friends, Jay Roff, Darryl Williams, Dan Munoz, Bryan Weinzimer and Scott Hoskins joined us for a 10 day group safari. They all hunted excellent trophies and enjoyed spending time together as they are located all over the world, from Venezuela to Nigeria.

Italian friends, Giovani Fusaroli & Victor Dana came on safari in September. Having hunted Africa before, they specialized in taking a Lechwe, Klipspringer (Giovani has a few stories to tell of his hike) etc.

Randy & Terry Foster from Texas, had an action packed 2 week hunt before departing on a guided tour to Cape Town. Terry’s goal was to do a Rhino dart and she accomplished her mission with a scare or two. Randy hunted a great Vaal Rhebuck, Bushpig on his first bait night and a wonderful Springbok 4 slam amongst other trophies.

Long-time, Danish friend, Bengt Kvitzau, joined us for a few days and hunted an excellent Kudu with Welcome, our tracker, and his wife hunted a very good Caracal.

Our guiding friend from Heartland Wildlife Ranches, Larry Muck and his wife, Teresa joined us in September for a visit, besides enjoying South African ranching, Larry hunted a good Kudu and Impala.

End of September, we hosted our first, merry group from Mauritius. Guy Gnany, Philip & Jacques Forget, Roland Daurat and Jean Luc Bazire had a very successful first time African safari. We look forward to having them back next year.

To end our season off, we welcomed back Trond Brekke from Norway for his 3rd safari with us in December. Trond had great luck at the Bushpig bait on his first night and hunted a good pig.

We are looking forward to a busy 2010 season, starting early February with Danish hunters. Mid-June to mid-July, South Africa is hosting the FIFA World Cup Soccer, our country is looking forward to this world-class event and is ready for the challenges it may present.
